WEBSTER - Donald F. Cyr, 58, of 11 Park Road died Wednesday evening at home
after a struggle with cancer.
He leaves his wife, Gloria R. (Ciappenelli) Cyr; seven daughters, Donna Brodeur
of North Grosvenordale, Susan Kovaleski and Cynthia Gordon, both of Webster,
Nancy Klawonn of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Judith Lemieux, Deborah Hurd and
Beverly Brodeur, all of Thompson; two brothers, Bernard and Louis Cyr, both of
Webster; five sisters, Loretta Standrowicz, Margaret Marrier and Anna Costen,
all of Webster, Rita Kania of Pomfret and Charlotte Galvin of Thompson; 18
grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in
Webster, son of Henri J. and Stasia (Taberski) Cyr, and lived here all his life.
He was a patrolman in the Webster Police Department for 25 years, retiring in
1989.
Mr. Cyr was a Korean War Army veteran.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the Fraternal Order of Police, the
Webster-Dudley American Legion Post 184, the Disabled American Veterans, the
Polish American Citizens Club and the TSKK club.
The military funeral will be Saturday from Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home,
340 School St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 53 Whitcomb St.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the University of
