WEBSTER
-- Edward R. Grochowski, 85, of 22 Eddy St., a World War II veteran and retired
town police officer, died Friday, Oct. 4, in The Meadows of Leicester after an
illness.
His wife
of 20 years, Helen R. (Miczek) Grochowski, died in 1961. He leaves two sons,
Thomas E. Grochowski Sr. of Webster and James F. Grochowski of Dudley; a
brother, Edmund Grochowski of Webster; three grandchildren; a great-grandson;
nephews and nieces. He was born in Webster, son of Frank and Victoria (Kuszewski)
Grochowski. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Central Europe.
He was a
patrolman 30 years for the Webster Police Department, retiring in 1982.
He was a
member of St. Joseph Basilica, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Athletic
Booster Club, and Webster Lodge of Elks 1466.
The
funeral will be held Monday, Oct. 7, from Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340
School St., with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial
will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8
p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, in the funeral home.
