Andrew Amato


Missing since September 30, 1978
from Webster, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
Classification: Endangered Missing
Vital Statistics
- Date Of Birth: 1974
- Age at Time of Disappearance: 4 years old
- Distinguishing Characteristics: White male. Blonde hair; blue
eyes.
- Clothing: Maroon colored snorkel jacket, dungarees, and a white
Mickey Mouse t-shirt.
Circumstances of Disappearance
Amato played in the woods behind Ash Street Trailer Park, with his sister and
cousin during the morning hours of September 30, 1978. They lived in nearby
mobile homes on Richards Avenue.
Amato stumbled and fell down. Crying, he got to his feet and started to run
around in circles. The other children ran for help. It was about 10:30 a.m.
Amato disappeared by the time they returned to the woods.
It is possible that Andrew walked out to Route 52 and was abducted by a passing
motorist.
A suspect soon emerged. Police were never able to tie their suspect to the case.
And a few years ago, the man died.
Police are still looking for Andrew Amato. This time, the search involves four
teams using five cadaver dogs. The area, a stretch of Burrilville, Rhode Island.
About ten miles away from where Andrew Amato was last seen.
Police recently come across information from someone the suspect knew that he
may have buried Andrew Amato among power lines in the Burrillville area. He was
familiar with the area. And he knew it very well. The power lines run for miles,
through Burrillville, Rhode Island, and on through Connecticut.
